    • I have compared you with the original Rome, not with the second or third.

      • First it was Rome. It was crude and a grottesque copy of mostly greek things.
But it made bending archways and a judicial system so meh.
Then two brothers had a fight. Then Rome collapsed due to barbarians (later germanic tribes)
So the only Rome still standing was Byzantium, the eastern Rome, or simply Rome.
It was very corrupt but hugely superior militarily having combined the mechanical wisdom from anything from macedonian phalanxes and greek fire to roman legions and catapults and made some of its own like cataphractes.
So it kept repulsing arabs, franks whathave you.
So it lasted 1000 years. The longest standing empire in Europe and second in the world.
Then it collapsed by the ottomans, the seljuk turks to be exact.

Then some say that Moscow is the third Rome.

During the fighting of byzanium with the italian city states, it also became apparent that a collapsed and restructured entity is more versatile than a huge one but vastly corrupt one.
Latins always despised the greeks and the east because it was superior to anything. Everything they did was a bad copy of the east. From letters to sculpture.
However, after the emergence of the italian city states commerce and art flourished. After the collapse of constantinople, greek letters went home en mass to italy (venice in particular is a great byzantine city) giving birth to the european renesscaince and everything is history from then on.

Ahh, yes, Putin's faked election results. To bad he accidentally published the real election results which showed only 15% of the population showed up to vote for independence. No, it is safe to say Putin's fake election had no legitimacy at all.

Byzantium lasted for a thousand years, not because of its cataphractes, but because the second Rome has accepted Christianity, while the Rome had fallen into the abyss of decay, decadence, paganism and sodomy - the same path the modern West has chosen. That was my point, Colon failed to understand.

If that was a way to troll benny, I'd say ok

but the "west" is not uniform. it's not even clear where it ends and where it begins.
talk with frenchies and you'll get tired of hearing about angloamerican way of doing things.
talk with english and you'll get tired of hearing about continental cryonism, rigidity etc

talk with some american conservative and you'll think he's from another planet, completely.

the "west" has backstabbed and conned one another many times.

And besides, don't think that the vast interests of the world's population are not the same. they are.

You Americans are really struggling with acceptance of this Greek invention. Euros are all on board, and have been for a while.

That makes sense if you define Russia as an Asian nation.

Russia is alternative Europe, like Byzantium was an alternative Rome.
