There's two countries more left wing than argentina in Latin America ATM, Venezuela and Cuba. I wouldn't say they are pinnacles of progress.

Venezuela has oil money, and cuba doesn't even have access to international credit AFAIK.

However, Venezuela is currently rationing toilet paper, and it's government is currently studying measures to further ration other products. For a country with the largest proven oil and gas reserves in the world, that's pretty bad.

I'll leave the country where engineers work pumping gas for tourists for the dollar tips aside.

That's a good question. Bolivia is pretty much a ****hole. It could rank third, I don't kow. They've been pretty quiet for a while.

If you ignore 1982, 1990, 1997, 1998 and 2004, then Venezuela hasn't defaulted since the 19th Century.

If done right? It couldn't. Over here, among the first things a family pays for after basic necessities are covered is private school for their kids.
