When I educate parents of infants on proper car seat use is it a waste of time? When I educate them about how to keep their toddlers from electrocuting them selves on wall sockets or poisoning themselves with household cleaners stored in floor level cupboards is that a waste of time? When I educate parents about the harmful effects of exposing their kids to tobacco or alcohol? These are just a few items of parent education we're required to pass on to parents during their children's well visits.

Years ago the US had a choice of funding parenting education for expecting and new parents, but it opted out for making all that the duty of healthcare workers caring for infants and children, not that the government decided to pay for the mandated education.

Oh, and in case you didn't know it, everytime a woman goes to an emergency room they ask her if she feels safe.

I have personally taken care of children--as young as age 7--who have shot themselves with their parents' unsecured firearm. I don't know if the gun owners who support this bill are just stupid, or paranoid, or evil, but I know they are ****ing cowards if they can't stand to even discuss the way they store their weapon around children.
