What do you mean, "now"? This comes up every couple years and "rocks are deadly weapons" always wins.

Where is the rock in the video of the kid being beaten and kicked in the head? Oh wait he was no longer a threat

Talk of the lethality of rocks became irrelevant the moment he stopped throwing or was apprehended and unable to throw

That's separate, and I'm with you on that.

The State has a monopoly on use of force, but that requires its agents to act appropriately. Use of force can only be to a level that appropriate to resistance, and should end once the subject is arrested. Any punishment must be mandated by a court of law, not dealt out in summary fashion by officers on the spot.

It turns out that he got beaten a bit after he'd already been put on the ground, and that's not okay at all. But I'm not really sympathetic to him anyway because he was rioting after all, so this all could have been avoided if he had done the smart thing and not left home.

When the police are beating up peaceful demonstrators then I'll be concerned.

You're catching on! There is no really limiting demarcation criterion between a deadly weapon and other objects. This is a big part of why gun control is stupid. It's not what the object is, it's what you're doing with it that matters.

I agree that reg should keep quiet and stay at home.

Rocks are deadly weapons, but when an American citizen throws a rock at a foreigner, the foreigner is expected to graciously receive the rock, honor it, and cherish it. These Israelis should be put in their place. Frankly I'm disappointed in the Marine Corps for not upholding the glory of the US of A.
