A rock is a deadly weapon so the little punk was attacking police officers with a deadly weapon so his punk ass deserved to be shot but instead the guys on the scene decided to just beat him. Frankly, he deserved much worse. That said, yes, the troops need to maintain their discipline even in the face of violent attacks but that is something to be handled via the proper procedures.
To compare 53 Americans have been murdered by Hamas and the Palestinians so why no outrage over that, Speer?

I was once in clsoe proximity of some youthful delinquents that had showered a riot police squad in rocks and very vile language having to do with the policemen's mothers, sisters and generally very foul language
I was near enough to listen to the instructions the riot police commander was giving the cops.
as the rocks were flying like rockets and the swear words too, the commander ordered: YOU WRITE ALL OF THIS TO YOUR BALLS. YOU DON'T LISTEN TO ANYTHING. TO YOUR BALLS

Nope, there is a HUGE difference between a violent thug attacking an officer with a deadly weapon and someone just minding their own business and getting attacked. The thug in the OP was actively attacking people with deadly weapons and, like I said, he should have been shot. That said, after he was apprehended, no, they shouldn't have beaten him and as I previously said they should be disciplined for that. The fact remains I still think that if you attack soldiers you become a combatant and you forfeit any and all rights as a private citizen.
