If we completely ignore the attention paid to the tea party candidates who overthrew other established Republicans in far more recent primaries of course.

And you wonder why people think you know nothing about American politics. Tea Party candidates who overthrew other established Republicans didn't get followed unless they said crazy things. Do you know much about Mike Lee, Senator from Utah, who defeated Bob Bennett, the incumbent Senator in 2010? What about in 2012, when Deb Fischer won the Nebraska Senate primary (and then won the general in a walk)?

Or are you looking at Christine O'Donnell who said crazy stuff in the midst of the election? Which is exactly what I said was the outlier.

Also, main problem being that Democrats are completely naive when it comes to politics sometimes. All these Tea Partiers in Congress are going to be great for us... oh really? Yes, it cost a few Senate races, but how much legislation passed these past 4 years? What is Obama's approval rating? It's a classic case of be careful what you wish for.

How much did Republicans cooperate on legislation prior to the 2010 election? Might as well let them keep drifting further right until they lose their majority due to candidates saying crazy ****.

I think the people who say it are usually the people who end up with egg on their faces when it comes to actually making predictions. Of course it's much easier to just sit throwing out dumb comments about foreigners not being capable of understanding American politics.

As for Brat, we'll see. Perhaps he'll be clever enough to keep his mouth firmly closed and not pop up on the radar, or maybe he'll do like so many of them do when they think their position is now mandated by the voters and start mouthing off.

Only a few of their candidates have lost due to saying crazy ****. There isn't really much danger to Senator Lee (R-UT) or Senator Fischer (R-NEB), or Senator Paul (R-KY), or Senator Rubio (R-FL), etc. and House candidates can see super crazy crap and still get elected.

The Republicans are expected to win the Senate this year. That isn't because they have too many candidates saying crazy **** costing them elections.

Have you forgotten the last general election already? The one which the Republicans should have walked into due to a terrible economy, a hugely unpopular Presidential signature bill and a general feeling that the promise of his election had largely disappeared in smoke in 4 years? The Republicans fooled themselves into thinking that the midterms had shown America was listening to the Tea Party message, and let those ****ing idiots lead the way, spouting their idiotic tax obsessive, anti-women, anti-immigrant **** to everyone who would listen.

At the extremes of course the likes of Akin and Mourdock didn't just cost the party their own seats, they influenced the vote across the damn nation.

As for the senate, we'll see soon enough what happens. In the meantime though if you could manage to just disagree or tell me I'm wrong instead of slipping into foreigner bashing mode, that would be great thanks.

Besides, just because a Tea Party candidate can't win a national election doesn't mean they can't influence the rightward and obstructionist slide of the national GOP.

The Dems got 2 Senate pickups and 8 House pickups in an election that their Presidential nominee won big - that's really bad coattails.
