What the **** are you all on about? How is this corrupt?
The guy couldn't have actually cared that badly if he'd rather have some other job than be a state senator and vote on this issue. Which implies that if the vote came up he wouldn't be too miffed to vote "no" and sink it anyway. They offered him a deal that is by the way completely and openly legal and he accepted. Are legislators required to serve out their terms? No.
Furthermore, the district he lives in probably hates Obamacare anyway--it's extremely republican, and the man is a relatively conservative democrat. There's no usurpation of democracy going on here.If there is no sound in space, how come you can hear the lasers?

Regarding the thing about his daughter getting a judgeship though, the fact is that she is a) apparently competent and b) the only reason she wasn't confirmed is that there are ethics rules against someone's family becoming a judge if you are an active Virginia legislator and they would have confirmed her otherwise. So you can't tie that to some backroom deal.If there is no sound in space, how come you can hear the lasers?

It's all indirectly fallout of the deal the Democrats made with the Republicans about four years ago during redistricting too, where they agreed to gerrymander the Senate in favor of Democrats and the House in favor of Republicans, but lost control of the Senate anyway as Republicans took 2/3rds of the House because the Republicans pretty much swept 2011.
