As the debate over the release of Bowe Bergdahl unfolds, all eyes have been on Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), who, like Bergdahl, spent five years as a prisoner of war, only in Vietnam instead of Afghanistan. McCain's initial statements about Bergdahl's release were not as critical as some of his Republican colleagues, but he has since come out more strongly against the decision to release five Taliban detainees in exchange.

The ****bag specifically said he didn't support letting five taliban leaders go "as a confidence building measure" but as an exchange for the one American POW it was ok. He's just a flip-flopping liar. Of course, how he is claiming he never said it and is back tracking.

Obama could eat a baby and MrFun would argue that eating babies is the right thing to do.

Are you this stupid? None of these men are the equivalent of Rudolf Hess.

And Godwin sadly makes an early appearance.

Is there a media-friendly bitesize cliched tag for people such as DinoDoc to glom onto ?

For someone who posts so many inane articles, you are very ignorant.

                  Hooray for godwin!!

And what Sava said; you really think any of those five detainees (none of which had been put to trial for actual charges, BTW) are comparable to someone like Rudolf Hess?

You were notified of it thirty days before it happened as required by law?

Plus, the "illegal" thing here is the fact we've got "detainees" being held without charge in the first place!

The idiocy of this issue is unfathomable. Five guys got released. Afghanistan is probably the most heavily surveilled region on the planet. Drone strikes are indiscriminately killing people left and right. I have no idea what the average life expectancy for a Taliban commander or fighter is, but I don't suspect it's very long.

But somehow, we've surrendered and Obama is a traitor.

                    Who is being dishonest here?

OH YEAH I GUESS YOU GUYS ARE JUST A STICKLERS FOR EXECUTIVE/LEGISLATIVE PROCEDURE HUH?

                    Dip****s.
I was just sharing with you what MSNBC had to say. I guess I should know better than to trust those radical NOBAMA truthers at MSNBC. Or maybe you expect me to believe that NPR's criticism is based solely on right wing bias and racism.

For shame Sava. You should do a better job of picking your fights.

We are talking about senior enemy commanders previously described by the Administration as a grave and continuing threat. However even if you wanted them granted POW protections, they should still be in Gitmo because the US will still be fighting the Taliban for another 2 years.

Rudolph Hess was a high ranking Nazi official who made an unauthorized trip into enemy territory to make unauthorized negotiations with the enemy. The Nazis would have probably shot him on sight.
