Everything is a show these days, so if we had gladiator fights again, I can already see the headlines "American Hero vs five Taliban terrorist generals". May the best man win.

Arm Berhdal with a M60, while giving the Taliban swords. Fair fight: 5 vs 1 with a machine gun.

American people would see an American hero in action, provide the proof of superior American firepower, sell a few guns in the aftermath, and Berhdal would prove his patriotism by killing the terrorists in front of the nation.

It is a win-win scenario. No innocent people would be harmed. NRA would approve. I am sure it would even be stimulating for the economy.

Are you talking about the provision that treaties must be affirmed by two-thirds of the Senate? I'm not sure that a prisoner or hostage exchange is a treaty.

We are talking about senior enemy commanders previously described by the Administration as a grave and continuing threat. However even if you wanted them granted POW protections, they should still be in Gitmo because the US will still be fighting the Taliban for another 2 years.

How would we ever be able to put Bergdahl up for court martial to face his charges if we had not gotten his release from the enemy (I'm going on assumption that this prisoner exchange was the only realistic way to have made this happen)?

Or the second rumour, that he was a failed C.I.A. sleeper ?

Or the third that he wants a sex change ?


Or the fourth, that it was failed attempt to interest the Taleban in peanut butter, saltines and Velveeta ?
