  • When will we get the first "gamer" President?

Video gaming is the largest entertainment industry. It's bigger than music. It's bigger than movies. It's not exactly a new industry either. It's existed during my entire life.

The Polish President gave Obama a copy of "The Witcher" back in 2011 (or the second one, I guess). Recently, Obama recalled that encounter.

I confess, I'm not very good at video games, but I've been told that it is a great example of Poland's place in the new global economy. And it's a tribute to the talents and work ethic of the Polish people as well as the wise stewardship of Polish leaders like prime minister Tusk.
Presidents are people and they like to be entertained just like everyone else.

Is it strange that we've not had a President who has expressed an interest in the nation's largest form of entertainment?

For the foreseeable future, I doubt this will change. Hillary's not a gamer. I doubt the Republican candidate in 2016 will be either. So how long will it be until we get a President who plays video games? Or at the very least, did so when they were younger?

Would a prospective candidate's penchant for gaming change your opinion of them? Is it a negative? Positive? Irrelevant?

Would the type of games they play matter to you?

Do you think a particular political party would make more of an issue about video games than the other? Would "gamer-shaming" matter to you? Would you do it?

I think that's all the questions I have.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
To us, it is the BEAST.

I suggest that Putin and Obama play a few rounds of CS to see who is a better man. Putin with his Siberian bear riding skills vs Obamas Kenyan jungle agility.

I think the next generation of politicians will game more. I know Obama isn't hitting social security, but he's still over 50 and most gamers tend to be younger than that.

Given what we've seen from the ****ing Boomers, they will try to be in power forever. *sigh*. They've already been in power straight since 1992, that's 24 years already. Enough!

I know we've had "baby boomer" presidents since 1993, but that's a bit like saying "half-black people have been in power since 2009".

I thought it would have been the game of thrones/executive chairs.

And? It's correct and ****ing annoying. Everything I've seen says they are going to try to hold on as long as they possibly can. Could be another 16 years, until 2028.

                          40 years of Boomers.

Even the generation of the American Revolution only got 36. (Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Madison and Monroe).

                          1. Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Madison, Monroe (36) [26 years]

                          3. Polk, Fillmore, Pierce, Lincoln, Johnson (20) [14 years]
                          4. Grant, Hayes, Garfield, Cleveland, Harrison, Arthur, McKinley (36) [21 years]

                          6. Roosevelt, Truman, Eisenhower (28) [8 years]
                          7. Kennedy, LBJ, Nixon, Ford, Reagan, Carter, Bush (32) [16 years]
                          8. Clinton, Bush, Obama (24 so far). [15 years]

Don't complain about it, do something about it. Typical attitude from the whinny generation. Take the power from us. That's how it's done.
