I've been rereading the Thrawn trilogy lately, since one of the school libraries has them and I get downtime. Been years. I have to say that Thrawn, Mara Jade, Karrde, C'baoth, the Noghri, etc. are fascinating. They're also far too subtle and complex to all be shoehorned into even three two-hour movies, together with the elaborate plot. It'd be lovely if they could work in Mara, at least--without screwing up her character hopelessly--but I certainly wouldn't trust Abrams to do that.

By "Han Solo trilogy," do you mean the A.C. Crispin prequels, the ones set on Corellia with the Starbuster, or the pulpy Stars' End ones from before I was born?
I did read the Kevin J. Anderson books and liked them--but I was twelve, and I did realize that the Zahn books were way better.
