    The cast has been announced:

John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow (the villain?) will join the original stars of the saga, Harrison Ford (Han Solo), Carrie Fisher (Leia Organa), Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca), and Kenny Baker (R2-D2)

Director J.J. Abrams says, "We are so excited to finally share the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII. It is both thrilling and surreal to watch the beloved original cast and these brilliant new performers come together to bring this world to life, once again. We start shooting in a couple of weeks, and everyone is doing their best to make the fans proud."

Star Wars: Episode VII is being directed by J.J. Abrams from a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan (The Empire Strikes Back) and Abrams. Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams, and Bryan Burk are producing, and John Williams returns as the composer. The movie opens worldwide on December 18, 2015.

to the originals being in it

(I just hope it isn't terrible like the new Indiana Jones movie)

Man, I am not familiar with any of those people, except Max von Sydow (and the originals). I'm gonna call that a good sign.

Anakin actors from I-III were unknown (relatively) at the time.

I wonder how they'll explain him. What's his character been doing during all the other movies? His character is at least old enough to have been in the prequels.

Von Sydow's character was, no doubt, way too cool for the prequels.

Max Von Sydow is the best possible news, aside from if Jar Jar Abrams went away. Von Sydow will polish the turd they hand him until it shines, no matter what the part.

If he could play Ming, he can do any villain.

He could do the wise old Jedi off meditating on the Mysteries of the Force all those years hermitlike, whom the bad guys never flushed out, even. He could make a poor undistinguished moisture farmer on Tatooine sparkle.

He's an actor, in the very best sense.

Rather see him chew scenery as a the villain, of course.

I hope these ones are better than the prequels.

Abrams is still in charge, but the presence of Kasdan, and now this, does make me more hopeful.

The Bad Robot goons will still make a bad movie, but their style of bad should prove a better fit here.

I think you're one of, like, three people on here who agrees with me that Abrams makes crappy movies. Every time I say his Star Trek sucked, I get a dozen people telling me, "lighten up NERD it's a fun popcorn movie and therefore gets a free pass for making utterly no sense."
