Anyone have any strong feelings about them throwing out the Expanded Universe cannon? I always heard that Thrawn was pretty awesome.

I know people with strong opinions on the subject, but I'm not one of them.

That's dedication, too. Breaking all those up into 3 minute segments? Spending all that time uploading?

I've been rereading the Thrawn trilogy lately, since one of the school libraries has them and I get downtime. Been years. I have to say that Thrawn, Mara Jade, Karrde, C'baoth, the Noghri, etc. are fascinating. They're also far too subtle and complex to all be shoehorned into even three two-hour movies, together with the elaborate plot. It'd be lovely if they could work in Mara, at least--without screwing up her character hopelessly--but I certainly wouldn't trust Abrams to do that.

I will miss most of the Zahn stuff, the Han Solo trilogy and the X-wing books despite their unapologetic minimalism. That's maybe 5% of the novel EU though and the rest of it is complete crap. I just remember Daala and threw up ambit in my mouth. And I never even attempted the NJO books and beyond, I knew better and spared myself the pain.

By "Han Solo trilogy," do you mean the A.C. Crispin prequels, the ones set on Corellia with the Starbuster, or the pulpy Stars' End ones from before I was born?

I did read the Kevin J. Anderson books and liked them--but I was twelve, and I did realize that the Zahn books were way better.

Personally I had been holding out a small amount of hope for a KOTOR trilogy.
