    • Yeah... they only got concerned when they couldn't hide it anymore. They had to change their ways because nobody was buying their BS.

Unfortunately, they are still dragging their feet and not being totally open about it.

Again, what can you say about a religious order that was more concerned about their image than the true victims.
They preyed on their own flock.
      I call it morally repugnant.

Real Christian of them. Jesus would not approve.
Remember how Sister Bendy liked the ex-Hitler Jugend Pope ? Now we see why :

For the legions of people whose childhoods and adult lives were wrecked by sexual and physical abuse at the hands of the Roman Catholic clergy, Pope Benedict XVI is an unloved pontiff who will not be missed.

Victims of the epidemic of sex- and child-abuse scandals that erupted under Benedict's papacy reacted bitterly to his resignation, either charging the outgoing pontiff with being directly complicit in a criminal conspiracy to cover up the thousands of paedophilia cases that have come to light over the past three years, or with failing to stand up to reactionary elements in the church resolved to keep the scandals under wraps.

From Benedict's native Germany to the USA, abuse victims and campaigners criticised an eight-year papacy that struggled to cope with the flood of disclosures of crimes and abuse rampant for decades within the church. Norbert Denef, of the NetworkB group of German abuse victims, said: "The rule of law is more important than a new pope."

Denef, 64, from the Baltic coast of north Germany, was abused as a boy by his local priest for six years. In 2003, Denef took his case to the bishop of Magdeburg. He was offered €25,000 (then £17,000) in return for a signed pledge of silence about what he suffered as a six-year-old boy. He then raised the issue with the Vatican and received a letter that said Pope John Paul II would pray for him so that Denef could forgive his molester.

"We won't miss this pope," said Denef. He likened the Vatican's treatment of the molestation disclosures to "mafia-style organised crime rings".

That view was echoed by David Clohessy in the US, executive director of SNAP (Survivors' Network of those Abused by Priests), an organisation with 12,000 members: "His record is terrible. Before he became pope, his predecessor put him in charge of the abuse crisis.

"He has read thousands of pages of reports of the abuse cases from across the world. He knows more about clergy sex crimes and cover-ups than anyone else in the church yet he has done precious little to protect children."

Pope Benedict XVI 'knew more about clergy sex crimes than anyone else in church yet did little to protect children', say critics

Which is why you're arguing for collective rather than individual responsibility?

          • Then we should let them do their job.
Sister Bendy says. And when they do it at a glacial pace, what then ?

We're supposed to imagine they're just being thorough- or giving the perpetrators time to run and hide, and the victims enough time to successfully commit suicide.

Oh yes, the Roman Catholic hierarchy is being martyred for no reason apparently.

'Suffer the little children to come unto me' doesn't mean close your eyes while priests ruin childhoods, you know.

Rah said the same thing Big Brother did. "If you've got nothing to hide, then you shouldn't mind being searched."

You're really going to make it personal? I've worked with the Church, I've worked in the secular school system. I trust my coworkers far, far more now than before.. I've had to pass background checks, I'll have random inspections where one of the board will sit on my classes, I have to pass an assessment generally every year.

You tell me that the Catholic church is not concerned about these things. My experience in working with them, that they are very careful and want to ensure that the children are safe, first and foremost.
Please answer the question. If it was your child...

                        • With regards to enabling child rape, Benedict was the worst of the worst.

But that's what you get when you have a Nazi pope.

                            I saw it.

And as much as I'd like to think that BK is sometimes a clever troll, doing obvious things to get reactions... he just isn't a smart person. He's not clever. This isn't some elaborate ruse. BK's posting is an absolute reflection of his real life persona. He is that evil. He is that stupid. He is that horrible of a person.

Why do you think I moved to Texas, Pax? The public school system in BC is terrible for this. I have friends who have a ton of horror stories in their time teaching there.

I wouldn't be working for a Catholic school if I didn't trust my boss. I trust my coworkers. Would I want my child to be educated there? Absolutely. My boss is a fantastic lady. Should that change in the future, I would leave and teach somewhere else.

If you want a place that really gives a damn and puts out a quality education, we're the place to be.

Well, that's missing the point of 1984 entirely, isn't it? Orwell was a socialist critiquing the Soviet Union's betrayal of communism. I see Big Brother as police state totalitarianism at an extreme difficult to distinguish from fascism, yes - some differences in approach, but the end result is pretty much the same.

I hope that satisfies you, sir. It's a good-faith attempt at an honest answer.
