I strongly disagree with CFC's management style. Nothing about this argument -or the comedy derailing- would have been allowed anywhere on that site for multiple reasons, all of them convenient to the staff and degrading to the citizens.

The PM thing IS a hanging offence at AC2, sorta - but I might let you off with a deletion and tongue-lashing, given the provocation. I PERMA'D a newb for doing once, however. -There were other toxic factors in the mix.

I think the new policy is ok. We'll see how it goes. There are some possible pitfalls, but be sure there's sharpened stakes down there waiting for whoever wants to test them out.

This is an OT policy of course, if it were in an on-topic forum and/or dealing with posters who haven't willingly involved themselves in the OT style of posting it would be much different.

I'd rather there was a penalty added for lying -proved privately to a mod or whatever- than this.

There are many assertions made here that others would consider lies. Do we start banning people for asserting them?

Ben, I don't know. Some things are provable, others are a matter of opinion, and many fall along a spectrum between the two. Nerds, and I do not exclude myself, have trouble with grasping that things are more complex than they'd prefer. We like things black and white. I don't think I have all the answers; it was a somewhat random thought.

I offer the friendly advice that the argument you're having in Sports, I was just reading up on it, is one that no one will ever win, and you should walk unless you just enjoy exchanging angry insults.
