  • Prison Hypothetical

Dude commits awful crimes and is sentenced to one hundred years in prison. Dude dies in prison. Dude is cryonically stored (he signed up for it earlier) and then revived a two hundred years in the future.

Has the dude served his time?

THIS IS A TRICK QUESTION. DID THE DUDE DIE IN PRISON IMMEDIATELY AFTER COMPLETING HIS 100 YEAR SENTENCE?

Yep. Though to prevent this they probably should write a law saying your term only counts for living years with a parole for being in a coffin .

        Demolition man.

I never figured out the point of that one.

My apologies, Master Wiglaf. Let's say he dies 50 years into his sentence.

The point seemed to be that being frozen was more merciful than dying in prison.

              What about triple life sentences?

They were subliminally "rehabilitating" them. Didn't Stalone learn to knit or something while he was frozen?

When they revived him was he a reasonable facsimile of the consciousness that existed before, or is he some demon spawn hell bent on destroying the earth? The demon spawn should be given a chance to prove whether they are rehabilitated or not ... innocent until proven guilty, but the guy (or the ~guy) should serve his time

How long was he in prison before he died?

Yeah, I forgot about that part. But I don't remember them talking about when anybody actually got released so those secondary issues were just fodder from some jokes.
