    • The idiot celebrities won't go away. Damn you jay cutler!

Experts warned against the dangers of following celebrity advice after reality star Kristin Cavallari acknowledged Thursday that she and husband Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler decided not to vaccinate their children.

When directly asked whether she was opposed to vaccines during an appearance on the Fox Business Network program, The Independents, Cavallari said, “we don’t vaccinate.” The reason? “I’ve read too many books about autism and the studies,” she said.

                • It's called an "ad hominem" fallacy. What does his janitoring have to do with anything? And if you are resorting to making janitoring the point of discussion, you are conceding defeat. It means you don't have any legitimate points to discuss, so you attack a person for being a janitor... or pizza delivery... or whatever else. Because apparently, all blue collar workers are stupid and incapable of discussing topics taught to high school kids.
Exactly. I never claimed that being a pizza delivery boy made me a medical expert. I've done all kinds of jobs - been a treeplanter, worked in a bindery, inventory clerk, etc. Everyone here who claims that I'm against blue collar workers forgets that it is how I've earned a significant proportion of my living.

I went to school, got a degree and now I don't do that anymore.

As for HPV, I was asked to write an article on it during the debates both up in Canada and here, on the HPV vaccine. Which meant doing research on it, and going through the VEARS database, etc. I have medical professionals that agree with me that it should remain voluntary so that those who believe they want it or need it can get it. There's no need to make it mandatory.

                    • Sure, it's also possible that New York will be obliterated tomorrow by a rogue asteroid no-one noticed. In this case however, the chance that BK understands more about the medical effects of vaccines than a doctor who has been in the profession for half a century is small enough that we can discount it, especially given that his argument is clearly just based on the religious angle of 'this gives young girls a license to have more sex! Evilz!!'.
Then I challenge you to find that argument in my post. An immunization rate of 50 percent is insufficient to establish herd immunity for HPV. Things like Measles are upwards of 90 percent, due to how infectious the disease can be. This is why it's so important to vaccinate for MMR.

Do you really think, that doctors back in the 40s and 50s and 60s didn't understand that when they pushed for MMR to be a vaccination? There's a reason they chose these ones.

                      • that janitoring doesn't give you much of a basis to argue about theoretical physics?
It worked ok for a patent clerk.

You're quite right, obviously it's a complete coincidence that you happen to support an outlandish position that just happens to line up with that shared by a number of religious extremists who care more about abstainance than they do about young girls lives.

Perhaps you should set about refuting my actual argument, and not the strawman that your imagination has concocted. Again, I'm not against the use of HPV, only that it be voluntary for those who wish to have it.

How is this an extremist position?
