  • Should I buy a horse, and if so how much should I spend?

polls are too much effort. Please enter your suggestion manually. Budget is 5-20 K in northern virginia/DC suburbs (along Potomac River). Belgian Warmblood, filly, with 4 legs, mane, and tail will probably run me ~18.5 to 20.

I am copy catting in accordance with impeccable poly tradition. I hope I did not disappoint.

Hay prices are high and oats cost even more. Even worse think of all the horse crap you'd have to clean up.

Is this for riding, draft, or dinner?

If you're going to take it into combat, make sure it's a warhorse.

Also, if anyone actually wants a horse, this is actually something I can supply...

What are you planning to use the horse for? Investment or consumption? How will you finance the horse? What are your opportunity costs?

Arabians are expensive but absolute beauties, they have really distinguished facial features and hold them selves with a lot of dignity.

I have a horse here you could buy. It looks suspiciously like an emaciated cow, but trust me it's a horse. We can build you a small castle connected to the cow horse for just $20k, and you'll have several acres of grassland to graze it on. (The horse, not the castle. The grazing castle costs a bit more.) The entire project will be completed in just 5 years time after we run over budget on a monthly basis and the horse ends up being burned to char in a grass fire during an extended dry spell. We can replace the horse with a chicken which actually has more meat on it. The chicken will cause you no end of grief once it finds out it can roost in the castle rafters, pooping on anything below, but at least you can take comfort in that it's not actually a horse roosting in the rafters pooping on you.

Let me know how this offer sounds ... I have a team of workers digging the foundations as we speak, and they may start demanding to be paid at some point in the future ... so time is of the essence.
