Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia is an expert on many things, like constitutional law and also apparently regional pizza variations. Scalia was in Chicago to address the Union League Club of Chicago, and according to the Chicago Sun-Times, at one point told the crowd Chicago-style deep dish pizza "shouldn't be called pizza...It's very tasty, but it's not pizza." Scalia is not the only East Coaster to voice this opinion: in November, Jon Stewart went on an epic rant about deep dish, saying, "This is not pizza...This is tomato soup in a bread bowl. This is an above ground marinara swimming pool for rats."
Isn't it well past time for the civilized world to take direct action in order to stop Chicago from referring to a casserole as a pizza?
