It was also the state hit hardest by the real estate bubble and so will probably take the longest to recover. It took the Japanese a decade to recover from their real estate crash but California seems to be recovering much faster.

We're ~5 years into a "recovery." It's going much faster than the recovery in Japan. I thought I was clear about that being the standard I was measuring against.Try http://wordforge.net/index.php for discussion and debate.

That's nation wide. Also 1) people always drop out of the labor force during economic difficulties plus 2) the US has a massive number of people hitting retirement age so, of course, they're no longer working.Try http://wordforge.net/index.php for discussion and debate.

That said you've got to be an idiot to believe that real estate isn't still over valued.Originally posted by Dinner View PostIt was also the state hit hardest by the real estate bubble and so will probably take the longest to recover. Say while we're on the subject here's a story that will warm your hearts. Twenty five years ago my wife had an aunt who worked for a small locally owned bank. The bank got into trouble. It was losing money. Management cancelled health insurance and "asked" the employees to relinquish their pensions. Money still went missing. Federal agents descended on the bank. The manager was taken into custody and convicted, but money continued to disappear. One of the employees developed cancer, but without insurance couldn't afford treatment. Eventually the cause of the bank's failure was discovered. The executive secretary had siphoned off millions of dollars to but a local Baptist church one b***hing new building. Did the Baptists help out the dying woman? No. Did she die? Yes. Were they sorry? Sure. What happened to the secretary? She got the minimum sentence, did her time, got time odd for good behavior and was received back into the church after she served her brief sentence.
Oh, they did let the manager out when they nailed the secretary, but he actually served longer than she did."I say shoot'em all and let God sort it out in the end!

My experience is churchs rarely actually help anyone in real need. I'd even go so far as to say a large percentage of Evangelical pastors are obvious fraudsters just out to enrich themselves at the expense of the gullible. If he preaches "prosperity doctrine" you're almost assured of it; I.E. he'll be driving around in a giant brand new Cadallaic SUV, have a massive house bought with church funds, but won't help out even members of his own congregation in serious need. The fraudster is out for cash and religion is just the con to get it.Originally posted by Dr Strangelove View PostSay while we're on the subject here's a story that will warm your hearts.
