  • Apolyton's New Server

    I've moved Apolyton to a new server. There may have been a slight rubber-band effect where posts and messages were lost in the move. I think we lose one post in the OT. I don't know about private messages ... sorry if anyones love letters got lost!

    There's some things that still need fixing up, such as the downloads section ... those will be straightened out soon.

    The new server will hopefully be a lot more responsive. It has 4x the RAM and 2x the CPU threads available to it.

    Let me know if you notice anything broken!

            I liked the old one better.

                When I tuned in Poly this morning, there were a ton of threads bolded for unread posts, which seemed odd.
                The move to a new server would seem to explain it.

                Otherwise seamless. Well done, Aeson.

                      Well done.

                      Much faster now. Likely fewer DPs.

                            I found a bug in the forum software, the following change to the code will fix it!

                            Code:
                            // old value
                            // $seconds = 0;

                            // newvalue
                            $seconds = rand(5,15);

                            if($user == 'DaShi') {
                                sleep ( $seconds );
                            }

                              This is because I changed some settings on how the forum keeps track of read threads. It was on the least server intensive setting before the move, but also the least accurate. This new method should be more accurate as to what has been read and what hasn't (eventually), but won't indicate what you've read from before the change.

                              If it's a problem we can move back to the old method.
