No problem. When I reread what I posted, I could see how silly it might sound without additional clarification.

Was this before or after you were told by the officer to leave the county? I remember a time when I visited NYC and the beggars were black. Obviously NYC is racially divided and prejudiced.Yes, I can remember in the south where being judged by a jury of your peers meant you could abuse blacks however you wanted and your peers would absolve you of any guilt.Scouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.

I like jury duty. My company continues to pay my salary and jury duty is a lot easier than my regular job.“It is no use trying to 'see through' first principles. If you see through everything, then everything is transparent. But a wholly transparent world is an invisible world. To 'see through' all things is the same as not to see.”

Are you really trying to say that this never happened in the south? Yes, I am old enough that this was still happening in the South when I was young. It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

I can find racial prejudice today. Easy. I've seen it when I passed through NYC.Are you really trying to say that this never happened in the south?
Yes, and we all know you watched Sherman burn Atlanta too.Yes, I am old enough that this was still happening in the South when I was young.Scouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.

Gee Sherman burned Atlanta in the 1960's? If you think that white men weren't getting acquitted by all white juries in the south in the 1960's you really shouldn't be teaching history.
And yes of course there's racial prejudice still today. That's why mixed juries are a good idea. Where did I say they weren't. You're an idiot. It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

You didn't witness either one of them. That's my point. You say, "the south was like X".Gee Sherman burned Atlanta in the 1960's?
Did you live in the South? Were you there in the South? Have you spent any time there aside from the short drive you've made? What makes you a qualified observer as to exactly how things went down in the South?
I don't claim to speak for conditions in NYC just because I was in the bus station twice, for several hours.
Why do you claim to understand what was going on in the South in the 60s?
If you think that racial prejudice is confined south of the 37 and south of Mason dixon, you're quite wrong about it.If you think that white men weren't getting acquitted by all white juries in the south in the 1960's you really shouldn't be teaching history.
I never see you talk about it though. You only fire off shots at the South - something you never actually saw or witnessed. Why is that, rah?And yes of course there's racial prejudice still today. That's why mixed juries are a good idea. Where did I say they weren't. You're an idiot.Scouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.

I can't believe you. You're a history major yet you claim I need to have experienced every thing first hand to properly understand it.
What A JOKE.
The civil rights movement was quite dominant in the papers and in our text books in the 60's when I was in school. We studied it often. But I guess studying it isn't sufficient to understand it.

I never said that. You did.I can't believe you. You're a history major yet you claim I need to have experienced every thing first hand to properly understand it.
You're claiming to be a historical witness to events you never saw.Yes, I am old enough that this was still happening in the South when I was young
So what you're saying is that your experience with the civil rights movement is exactly the same as mine. Thank you.The civil rights movement was quite dominant in the papers and in our text books in the 60's when I was in school.
Tell me, did Sherman have a beard? I've heard he was rather soft spoken. You're an idiot.Scouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.

So I guess you did say that. What makes you a history major? You didn't witness either one of them. That's my point. You say, "the south was like X".
Did you live in the South? Were you there in the South? Have you spent any time there aside from the short drive you've made? What makes you a qualified observer as to exactly how things went down in the South?
And yes, I have visited the south at least twice a year for the last two decades. May years I did much more due to business.
But I will admit that I never witness seeing a black man dragged behind a pickup. But that doesn't mean it never happened.
And yes I think my experience with the civil rights movement is more than yours since I actually lived through the 60's.
The town I grew up in was an example case in textbooks about how blacks were denied housing, when I was younger. I witnessed the marches, and then studied them years later at college.
It was not a proud moment for out town. I actually heard Malcolm X speak in person. But I guess none of that is actual experience.

Because I went to school and got a degree from the university of northern British Columbia. I have a BA in History. Nothing more nor less. What makes you a history major?
And I've never witnessed a man carjacked and executed on the corner of 55 and 94. But it's happened. And yes, I have visited the south at least twice a year for the last two decades. May years I did much more due to business.
But I will admit that I never witness seeing a black man dragged behind a pickup. But that doesn't mean it never happened.
Why? You said you read newspapers. You're a reliable historical source on race relations of the sixties in Illinois - and the general point of view that people had back then, in your neighbourhood. Which matches the opinion you've given, the parochialism towards the south, etc. That's an expected prejudice for folks of your age and the location you're from. And yes I think my experience with the civil rights movement is more than yours since I actually lived through the 60's.
You are not a reliable source on race relations in the South.
This is the juicy stuff. So tell us about those marchers. Who was involved? What sorts of people were there? Were there lots of white folks, or was it mostly just black folks? What sorts of jobs and clothes did they wear? The town I grew up in was an example case in textbooks about how blacks were denied housing, when I was younger. I witnessed the marches
I can pull the old ballyhoo out of a textbook about the evils of Southern segregation same as you. It was emphasized in my education too - since we were with the underground railroad. Interestingly, we heard nothing about Wilberforce. In essence, the education I recieved is far more similar to education in Illinois than education down here - or in England and abroad. Which is curious, and a sign of American cultural domination on this issue. It's only later that I uncovered much of the Canadian history or even the reason why slavery was banned. We didn't get into emancipation or Wilberforce until college.
Absolutely that's actual experience. What was Malcolm X like in person? It was not a proud moment for out town. I actually heard Malcolm X speak in person. But I guess none of that is actual experience.Scouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.

Sherman's march on the south = set the south back economically for decades if not a century

Ben, It's useless to argue with you because of your dishonesty.
You claimed I couldn't know about something because I never experienced it, yet you claim to be an expert at history which you never experienced.
Asking me about things that I actually experienced has nothing to do with the my point. You're just doing your usual wiggle after you say something stupid.
AGAIN, if I can't know something that I didn't experience, how can you possibly consider yourself an expert at history. You didn't personally experience it.
