Seems to show that even based on such a crude comparison (equating years of schooling) the car majority of government workers make substantially more than their private sector counterparts. In most districts, school boards are "nonpartisan" so there is no party identifier next to the name, so you really have no information about the candidates. The random votes will roughly cancel each other out, meaning that the election will just be decided by the teacher's union.*

Furthermore, if elections were compulsory, I'm pretty sure most people would be pissed about having to skip some work to vote for something as trivial as a school board. There's a reason no one votes in school board elections. No one cares. If they don't care, why should it be an elected position? In fairfax county, there's an elected position for the guy who runs my district of the water system. I know **** all about water systems. I want my county supervisor to figure that out. That's HIS job.
