As a rule it's even numbered civs that are good. Looking forward to Civ VI, maybe it won't be a **** sandwich.

First Civ I played was Civ2, around release. Later I discovered Civ1 and played that extensively too. I was 14 when I joined Poly in 2000, so when Civ2 came out I could barely understand what happened.Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God.-Isaiah 41:10
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made - Psalms 139.14a

I got complete not too long ago on e-bay for about 12 bucks (still in original wrapping unopened). It's nice to have the real discs. I've installed it on quite a few machines so I don't have to worry about playing MP and being limited by steam. It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. actually, and i hate to admit it but...
now that i've purchased all the expansion packs, civ 5 isn't all that ****ty. there are still the flaws present with the 1upt design (which the AI cannot handle), but the game is now enjoyable overall i think. I'm still annoyed that we don't have an actual globe and we're forced to play on a cylinder, but the social policy tree makes a modicum more sense when you don't need it to win a cultural victory.
also, ming/rah, i want in on your next MP game. i miss playing with y'all.I wasn't born with enough middle fingers.

Civ 2 = Wrath of Khan
Civ 3 = Search for Spock
Civ 4 = The Voyage Home
Civ 5 = Star Trek V.
Civ 6 = The Undiscovered Country!
Also, I like how the all time best trek movie coincides with Civ2. 4 was a fun, light heared romp. 3 nobody liked it as much, but it was actually decent. 5 was a dumpster fire.Scouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.
