A Toyota Camry Altise Sport 2012, same colour as this

We've had a Camry Altise before - a 2006 model - we were very happy with it. We gave it to my father and he still drives it.

We looked at some of the smaller ones like the Yaris but we need the boot space and to carry luggage and a few people regularly, also some long distance driving - the Australian curse.

The one we bought had belonged to the Defence Department so it should have been regularly serviced and not flogged. It is still under warranty.

My oldest son came with me - he went for anything that was red and had a spoiler This one is in the new style with at least some sporty-ish features so he won't be ashamed to drive it. Everyone seems pleased with it, including Mrs Horse, who is a tough critic. The last Camry we had was hers so it was a no-brainer.

    Nice car

I like Hondas and Toyotas. They run forever, and don't use much gas. My mom and older brother have Toyotas and really like them.

Big Honda fan here. Got a decent offer on mine - I was tempted.

I went to the motor auctions where they sell the government cars and fleet vehicles but paid the fixed price before the auction instead.

I have done that before, you pay roughly book value without a dealer's mark up and it takes out the risk and guesswork. The warehouse guy told me people go to the auction and then end up back at the fixed price yard anyway, taking whatever is left. Massive turnover of cars every week. The car dealers buy there.

There were no Hondas, another excellent brand.

My son's choices were ridiculously typical for 19 year old, fat tyres, red cars, no idea about brand, reliability, miles, running costs, insurance. I was the same but at least now he knows how to buy a car.

It will last nearly forever. Good one.

              55,000 km or 34,000 miles

That was a little higher than I hoped but because it was a military vehicle it should have been highway miles, shuttling between bases I'd say, and regularly serviced - the military actually get disciplined if they get a ticket for speeding or damage the vehicle.

We'll probably only do around 3-5000 km or 2-3000 miles per year so it should come back closer to the average, which in Australia is 10,000km per year or 5-6000 miles. It could be less than that.

Some interesting very minor scratches in the interior exacty where you put a pack or firearm lol.

I like the front end better than the American Camry.

I'm the opposite of your son, when I went to get a car with my dad reliability and cost was my #1 consideration

Are you asexual or something? The vast majority of car company profits come from men overspending to impress women

There's more cost-effective ways to impress women, though. Efficiency
