  • Should I start a kickstarter for my music so I can get better equipment or is this just fleecing good people?

I have a 5000 dream budget to get the gear I want to really make the music I want to...Its tiny, I know, but It includes all the writing and synth software I want.

Now, granted I could save for this over 3-4 years....

Or I could fill out a kickstarter request and hope for the best and get it now.

Imran, I know you're hopelessly addicted to these things so I won't tell you if I set it up.

Good use of Kickstarter or great use of Kickstarter?

I would of course be offering my songs as payback for everything and I might even do some more fun stuff as rewards, like "work on a track with me while we get super silly stoned".

Someone started a kickstarter for the purpose of making a video where they complained about sexism in video games so I'd say anything goes.

I just feel guilty getting lots of money for not a lot of work. And something enjoyable and fun.

        I think it's a fine idea.

        MRT's too.

My guess is most people see through the undeserving just greedy stuff and it mostly ends up unfunded. If people some how do see it as deserving than who am I to tell them what to do with their own money?

It's a wonderful thing. If you do what you say you are going to do, and people are willing to throw money at you to do it, there's no basis for anyone to complain.

Unless you post an mp3 demonstrating that you are really good, you are just fleecing stupid people.

This would violate kickstarters' terms and be taken down. Please read kickstarter's terms BEFORE posting. Thanks.

                Thanks.

Can you use Kickstarter to start your own Kickstarter competitor?
