they as a genderless pronoun is fine, although americans usually prefer not to use it.

I have heard of Chrome, but have successfully maintained my nonawareness of it.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

It used to be, years ago.

I always use 'they' in that context. The only time I use 'he' is in a legal context and the 'he' is explicitly stated as possibly meaning 'she' anyway.

Its far easier to change 5 IP assignment ranges for individual users at home than change our entire IP scheme in office, at least until we change over to IPv6. But the fact that someone doesnt even know about google chrome...what the ****.
Actually going back to the original topic of the thread, I've never been in an office where there was any real impetus to switch to IPv6. Smart money has it that IPv4 is here to stay and tunneling will be the way of the future, so whatever. Plus NATs can actually be handy in places as a kind of cheap hack firewall.

and I can deal with it, I just have a craving addiction to ****ting up boring threads
Your posts bother me so much less now that I know you're just a reactionary authoritarian. For example, I barely feel inclined to comment on your ironically bad grammar.

It has **** all to do with feminism as a term.

I've had people get mad at me for not using he/she though. (I'm not opposed to the idea of a true neuter singular pronoun but he/she is even more awkward than they)

The impetus really is about VPN. We currently use 192.168.1.1 as our address scheme but this causes obvious problems when you're directing a phone to connect to a specific IP in that range and it looks solely at your home network range, rather than going out to the corporate network. Its a real pain in the ass to track down all explicit IP references right now so this is the kluge in meantime.

i always use 'they' too. it makes sense to use a gender neutral term in most situations.

Yes, that's why you're a reactionary authoritarian. You're only being authoritarian about grammar in this instance because you're reacting to your own distaste for feminism. And that pretty much sums you up. You cleave to tradition and the rules when something unfamiliar makes you feel icky.

                            He/she/it. You discrimanist.

Feminism isn't the reason, I just think it sounds bad.

Okay yeah that makes more sense; IPv6 makes vpn way ****ing easier. IPSec ftw (if you can afford the hardware...last I remember it was still in the 5 digit range).

Right, which is why the first mention of feminism in this thread is...
