How on earth can you possibly blame the insurance companies? These are for-profit enterprises. Blaming them for acting in the interests of their profits is like blaming an animal for trying to breathe. The person at fault is whoever passed the policy that VERY OBVIOUSLY was going to cause this to happen.

In any case, many policies aren't being cancelled because they are unprofitable--they are being cancelled because they are now illegal.

We're not allowed to blame them for colluding with the Obama administration and Congressional Democrats to pass a horrible law that will negatively impact millions of Americans? The insurance companies were willing partners in helping the Dems achieve their decades-long dream of (sort-of) universal healthcare because Obamacare as designed will increase the profitability of insurance companies. That might still happen if the disastrous Obamacare rollout doesn't **** up the plan and start an insurance death spiral.

I've always felt that the death spiral was inevitable and assumed that most insurance companies were against it. Most of the health actuaries I've talked to give grim prognoses. But if there are insurance companies that helped pass this law, they're in for a rude awakening and if I were more vengeful I would be eagerly anticipating their demise.

I have applied and got accepted into California's Medicaid program (Medi-Cal).

In compliance with ACA, California expanded its Medicaid program to include more people who can qualify, such as those who work, have an income, and no children.

For the first time in several years, I can afford to be covered for health care services again. I don't think I would have qualified for Medi-Cal without the laws under ACA if California had excluded more people before ACA became law.
