  • Actually, there should be ZERO terms/demands.

Congress just needs to do its fuckin' job. Vote and pass a straight-up, clean budget deal.

So no, I'm not impressed that Republicans' demands have decreased now - and that's if this claim is even true.
A lot of Republicans are not racist, but a lot of racists are Republican.

They started with just one demand and now they're up to 28 demands. That's an increase in the number of demands not a decrease, my factually challenged friend.

      • Congress just needs to do its ****in' job.
The House's job is to determine what's in the budget. The Senate and White House's job is to negotiate with the House to shape that budget into something that's acceptable to all parties (or at least a two-thirds majority in both the House and Senate). You're right that Congress should do it's ****ing job, which means Harry Reid needs to start negotiating with Boehner.
I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of how awesome I am.

        • In all seriousness, we need Joe Biden to be involved in this process; Harry Reid is an ******* and President Obama doesn't have the leadership skill needed to handle Congress. Diamond Joe would get this **** sorted out, which is why it's such a shame that Reid ordered him to be sidelined.

To the point of allocating zero bucks for a program that is to operate under a law that had been constitutionally passed, upheld by U.S. Supreme Court, and positively affirmed by Americans who reelected Obama?

The sole purpose of so-called "compromising" to kill a program just because Tea Bagger-type Republicans don't like it? NO THANKS.

You really couldn't find an article from this month? The government hadn't even shut down yet when that Atlantic piece was written. I'm not even sure Boehner had decided to give the Tea Partiers their pointless vote to defund Obamacare yet at that point.

I would call this a strawman, but I'm not sure you're actually intelligent enough to construct a strawman. I think you may actually believe that this was a cogent point.

                  One Year Debt Limit Increase

Not a dollar amount increase, but suspending the debt limit until the end of December 2014.

Similar to what we did earlier this year.

Want the year long to align with the year delay of Obamacare.

                  One Year Obamacare delay

                  Tax Reform Instructions

Similar to a bill we passed last fall, laying out broad from Ryan Budget principles for what tax reform should look like.

Gives fast track authority for tax reform legislation

Energy and regulatory reforms to promote economic growth

Includes pretty much every jobs bill we have passed this year and last Congress

All of these policies have important positive economic effects.

                  Energy provisions

                  Keystone Pipeline

                  Coal Ash regulations

                  Offshore drilling

                  Energy production on federal lands

                  EPA Carbon regulations

                  Regulatory reform

                  REINS Act

                  Regulatory process reform

                  Consent decree reform

                  Blocking Net Neutrality

                  Mandatory Spending Reforms

Mostly from the sequester replacement bills we passed last year

                  Federal Employee retirement reform

Ending the Dodd Frank bailout fund

                  Transitioning CFPB funding to Appropriations

Child Tax Credit Reform to prevent fraud

Repealing the Social Services Block grant

                  Health Spending Reforms

                  Means testing Medicare

Repealing a Medicaid Provider tax gimmick

                  Tort reform

                  Altering Disproportion Share Hospitals

Repealing the Public Health trust Fund

The Republicans want their entire agenda enacted or else the government stays shut down.

                  They should get nothing.

It was already established earlier that you're the one who doesn't know what a strawman is, or at least pretends not to while knocking them down.

I can understand why people would think this. Most of the time, I don't read the threads I respond to.
