Fortunately the minority in this country has rights as well. This is why the House and Senate are not "winner take all". The voice of the minority was not listened to in the least on this legislation and these are the consequences. In fact, kentonio, they did shove it down the throats of the opposition and made no bones about it while they were doing it. I suppose, you expect the minority to just give up the desires of their constituents and play dead? Oh please...

      • Seriously, why is the GOP trying so desperately to save the Democrats on this issue?

        • Even if no one is blameless, republicans seem happy about it. If not the politicians the constituency surely does as evidenced by here.

I'm happy as can be right now!

Watching the Republicans transform from a national party into a regional party is awesome.

They're already doomed to lose the Presidency for decades to come. But now it seems they are content with being a minority in both the house and senate!

This is my dream come true.

Can you list them by date? I dont think that stuff happening pre 1996-2000 is particularly enlightening about party tendencies.

You may be right. My dream is more along the lines of some sort of advanced technological gadgetry that makes me basically a demigod.

But watching the Republican party die a little each day is still pretty awesome.

                            And nice Romney'ism

I suspect the irony of that statement is lost on you.

                            • The irony of all the Reagan shutdowns is that they were almost all in part to him wanting to spend more money on defense while democrats in the house didnt want that and compromised in dumb ways. I dont know if you want to really hang your hat on "reagan is a profligate spender especially on defense."
