I'm sorry Molly. They were all revolutionaries. They should have obeyed their Lord and rightful Queen Mary and then they wouldn't be executed. After all, that's what Christ commands.

Erm, no. You won't supply the 'facts' you allege, because you can't. You haven't read enough and don't know enough.Originally posted by Ben Kenobi View PostThen I fail to see the point in supplying lists when I can simply deny that anyone was ever executed under Mary's reign for their faith. Checkmate.
Plain unvarnished simple truth.
Why should I acknowledge something you allege and have repeatedly failed to show occurred ? No seminary priest was executed BEFORE the Papal Bull of 'Regnans In Excelsis'- which effectively turned English Catholics into presumed traitors if they did not want to be excommunicated. That idiotic gesture (decried by Catholic monarchs) was a gift to Protestant hardliners in England.I don't feel the need to provide you any because you refuse to acknowledge that any persecution occurred under Elizabeth.
So your claim is that exactly zero Catholics were executed during the reign of Queen Elizabeth?
My claim is that you don't provide any evidence for your wild exaggerations and assertions- because you can't. You're on present evidence virtually historically illiterate.
Because you are. And you continue to be. If the Catholic Encyclopaedia supports yoru argument, show us how and where it does so. Perhaps it refers to William III Orange as 'King of the Dutch' or gifts him twenty children. We'll never know, because you don't use it to support your bizarre claims or correct your many errors. You've got one right in front of you. And yet you call me intellectually dishonest.
My faith ? Oh dear me. I'm a lapsed Roman Catholic. It grinds your gears that I was a perfect Englishman who rejected your faith to find another.
And the only perfect thing you are is a tw@t.
Woo-hoo. Carny sideshow Sister Bendy and the crystal balls again.I know your ideas
I'd prefer you to drop 'Godo Queen Bess' and try getting some decent facts into your posts. But then I'd also prefer an end to world poverty, and I think I can tell which will come first.I know your ideas
My grammar school was non-denominational. Again, you're just advertising what little you do know about my education at grammar school or elsewhere, comes from me.I'd be shocked if grammar school in England were taught something contrary to the public view of Elizabeth as the Virgin Queene who saved them from popery and the Spanish Inquisition.
How I love keeping an idiot in suspense.
As you ? Clearly not.Are you really this retarded Molly?
Are you saying I'm supposed to be envious of your degree ?And how sour do those grapes taste?

David Christie-Murray'sOh gosh. Yet another reliable, 'unbiased' source about Catholicism. Two down. Can you come up with a book that wasn't written by an Anglican reverend?David Christie-Murray was educated at the universities of London and Oxford and at Wyclif Hall, Oxford. He was ordained, but after 27 years he resigned orders, having moved, theologically, from the Anglican position towards that of the Society of Friends.Scouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.

Super!
I suppose I could respond by saying you are supposed to have a history degree (all evidence to the contrary), but guess what ? Chadwick taught history at Cambridge University from 1947. Became Regius Professor of Modern History and Master of Selwyn College. He worked on the history of Christian ideas and of the development of the Church in England since the Reformation.
Wrote books on John Cassian, the Oxford Movement and the Victorian Church.
You drove a pizza van and are a Catholic bigot who gets ridiculously easy historical facts wrong.

The operative word here is "LIKE". In rook, there are no aces, just cards numbered 1 - 14 and a rook card. Once again, you are just making **** up.Originally posted by Ben Kenobi View PostRook uses colored cards numbers 1-14. Red, Yellow/Orange, Green and Black. With 1s high like aces.
Once again, Ming is totally wrong here.
If you use a standard deck, the ace is USED as the one card... but in the the actual game of rook, with a real rook deck, there are NO ACES!
So like usual, you are wrong on something you claim knowledge of.
I'm not sure which is sadder... that fact that you don't even understand the topics you bring up yet claim expertise in, or the fact that you just make **** up to avoid admitting you made yet another mistake.Keep on Civin'

From your pal here, CSL. Odd that, he's arguing the same thing I am.According to Davies, the Tudor name was deliberately played down, because it was an embarrassment in England; Henry VIII would rather boast of the “Union”, of the families of Lancaster and York, which he embodied through his mother.
Henry stressed continuity.
Oh gosh, Wiki doesn't say anything about him - but it has his wife.
Socialist, Trotskyite. Was too red for Labor!
Yet another widely unbiased source on Catholicism, indeed.

You've got two COE Reverends and the most moderate is a communist. So you haven't read the book and didn't know the figures.
I suggest you find some reliable unbiased sources Molly. Preferably a primary source written sometime before JFK's assassination might be helpful.Scouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.

You are conscious of the fact that Chadwick is reviewing a book on a Catholic Pope by Cornwell ? And that he's quite critical of it ?Originally posted by Ben Kenobi View Post

He's a reverend of the COE. That makes him a ridiculously hostile source on this issue. Find a reliable secondary source. You are conscious of the fact that Chadwick is reviewing a book on a Catholic Pope by Cornwell ? And that he's quite critical of it ?
Are you going to permit citations of Catholic priest martyrologies as neutral?

What facts? Both were educated at Oxford - an Anglican institution, and both were reverends.Address the facts.
If I wanted to know about what the Anglicans of today thought about these matters then yes, they are reliable sources. However, they are extremely hostile sources to Catholicism in general. I couldn't rely on them for any factual statements because of persistant and concrete bias.

You are unbelievable. If you know that Rook used colored cards numbers 1-14 then why did you say Aces in your example? You use a rook reference using aces and you wonder why I thought it was obscure.Originally posted by Ben Kenobi View PostRook uses colored cards numbers 1-14. Red, Yellow/Orange, Green and Black. Once again, Ming is totally wrong here.
And I'm still trying to figure out how you think Ming is totally wrong.
He saidSo when he says there is no aces in a Rook deck he's right. Your insisting that there is, is wrong by your own definition. "like aces" is not the same.Yes, AS I NOTED, you can use a regular deck..
Just give it up.It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple
