Like too many American 'Christians' you find stupid little ambiguous passages in the bible and twist them to fit your own desired ends. Of course I praise liberal causes over Christianity, in case it's slipped your attention I'm a social liberal and am not a Christian. As for praising conservatives, you must have forgotten the thread where I eulogized the legacy of Mrs Thatcher. The difference is that I don't recognize America's brand of selfish, soulless right wing extremists as actually being conservative. There was a time when the left wing in the UK used to demonize UK conservatives and make out like they were monsters. Even in their most vicious and dishonest attacks, they never came close to describing anything as foul and repulsive as the GOP is today.

I think we're a better judge of what we mean than you. There are plenty of people that have the same beliefs as you that I don't dislike. They're just not jerks about it. You use your religion as an excuse to be a jerk about it. That's why you're disliked here. But if you want to think it's because of your beliefs, that's fine. But don't tell us what we mean. We pretty solid on that one.

And this is where you should take the cue from the pope. He's not saying that those things are OK, he's just saying that it shouldn't be such a focus (another way of saying that Catholics shouldn't be such dicks about it)
