There are countless risks way beyond simply making the nations kids stupider. What happens when scientists need politicians to consider something like the threat of diseases evolving if those politicians don't accept that evolution exists?

        Nice, but no.

This was what I was referring to.

According to Iroquois oral history, Sky Woman fell down to the earth when it was covered with water. Various animals tried to swim to the bottom of the ocean to bring back dirt to create land. Muskrat succeeded in gathering dirt, which was placed on the back of a turtle, which grew into the land known today as North America.[3][4] In the Seneca language, the mythical turtle is called Hah-nu-nah,[5] while the name for an everyday turtle is ha-no-wa.[6]

You can accept that diseases alter their methods of attack without accepting evolution.

Yeah, but that'd be ridiculous because if you learnt enough to know that you would have learnt how it happens.

That's equivalent to saying, you can believe things are attracted to each other without believing in gravity!

You can develop a resistance to certain poisons by means of small doses. It isn't a great leap to transfer that ability to an entire species.

Sure, if you don't understand anything about biology and science. You can make all kinds of stuff up. This isn't insightful reasoning at all.

Most politicians probably couldn't explain how corn ear worms developed a resistance to older pesticides; they don't need to. All they need to know is that the old pesticides aren't working, and new ones need to be found. They don't need to know why old vaccines don't work anymore, they just need to know that they don't.

But if those politicians are believing in something that is contrary to fact, they won't promote policies that develop new vaccines, pesticides, and other technologies to solves these problems. Promotion of ignorance is not helpful to society.

This is why Separation of Church and State is so important. Believe what you want, but vote only on the evidence. That is a politician's responsibility.
