"Evolutionary creationism" isn't a thing. If you think God caused the big bang you're not a creationist. Not every issue has to have a middle ground for people to waffle about in.
It is most definitely a thing. Better poll companies know this:
Which of the following statements comes closest to your views on the origin and development of human beings – [ROTATED: human beings have evolved over millions of years from other forms of life and God guided this process, human beings have evolved over millions of years from other forms of life, but God had no part in this process, or God created human beings in their present form exactly the way the Bible describes it]?
Not every issue has to be black or white.
“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
- John 13:34-35 (NRSV)
To be fair, I suspect a lot of people who profess to accept the evolution theory don't have a proper understanding of how it works either, hence popular notions such as devolution and the missing link.

I've said this before, believing in creationism really doesn't hurt anyone. All of the people who actually need to know evolutionary biology do know it and accept its truthfulness. It's not like homeopathic medicine, in fact, of all the common anti-science beliefs it's probably the most harmless.
Certainly open to debate, but why ridicule? In matters of faith, divine actions may not have a basis in science or rational thought. "Who are we to question the gods?" Debate the point from whatever point of view you choose to believe in, but there should be no room for ridicule when dealing with people's personal religious beliefs.
I don't give a pass for "religious beliefs" that are irrational. I don't care what the rational is for silly thought.
This isn't an anti-Christian thing.
The natives in my part of the world believe we are all living on the back of a giant turtle. It's farcical.

Why are we elevating everything to conform to the rubric of "rational thought". Especially when more and more scientific evidence is coming out that we come to our decisions emotionally and then add post-hoc rational basis to it.
I think our emotions are just as valid and important as rational thought & reason.
You owe me an apology.
Until then, **** off.

Well we realize they have to put up with you... so we're being compassionate in return
