Ton's of things. Food here was horrific until about the 90's, when a rash of TV food shows* caused a raise in consciousness about food and good cooking. As a result peoples expectations went sky high and we started seeing far better restaurants opening, a much, much higher quality of food available in the shops and a general all round rise in cooking as a national pastime. Classic British meals like roasts that used to be stodgy **** were turned into real classics, and a lot of continental and world foods were adapted locally and evolved to be unique.
*I may be overstating the important of the TV, but it seemed to coincide.
Do you guys do macaroni and cheese? I don't mean the Kraft stuff in the box, I mean the good kind: make a cream sauce, toss in a generous dose of cheddar (for flavor) and jack (for gooey-ness) cheeses, pour over cooked macaroni in a casserole, top with bread crumbs and bake for a bit. At least, that's how my folks make it. Did that originate as a British dish, or is it an American invention? I always thought of it as quintessentially American...

Oh, you mean like Yankee Pot Roast.
ACK!
Don't try to confuse the issue with half-truths and gorilla dust!

I believe it's American, I've certainly always thought it was. You see it here in pre-packed meals sometimes, but it's not something I've known people to make themselves much.
MRT, You would be surprised at the amount of Tex-Mex, Mexican/South-American restaurants that I've found in China, especially Shanghai. There was one called Mayan? that was stupid awesome as well as stupid expensive. While wandering one day, we happened across Pete's Tex-Mex, with boot shaped glasses for the beer. Food was a little off as this place did not do tortillas justice (like bread). But still not too bad. there was another place, forget the name, they had good fajitas. Not awesome, but still good.
I think Taiwan and China had more Italian restaurants than any other and most were very good considering location.
We're sorry, the voices in my head are not available at this time. Please try back again soon.

Does bourbon count as "food"? What about if you make it your meal
