It's a lot better if you make it yourself. Excellent comfort food.

I discovered the boxed stuff will actually go bad if left long enough. "I have never killed a man, but I have read many obituaries with great pleasure." - Clarence Darrow "I have never killed a man, but I have read many obituaries with great pleasure." - Clarence Darrow

You mean TV dinners, or the Kraft box? The latter doesn't even resemble classical mac-n-cheese. If you don't want to make it yourself, and you don't have a mom who makes it, try ordering it as a side next time you go out for BBQ. Most BBQ places have pretty good mac.Originally posted by Hauldren Collider View PostI have never heard of anyone making mac and cheese themselves, but I personally am fond of the packaged stuff.

Yeah, there`s a reason KD costs less than a dollar. The homemade stuff is in an entirely different category."I have never killed a man, but I have read many obituaries with great pleasure." - Clarence Darrow

After digging around on Wiki, it seems the original mac and cheese was Italian, and involved nothing but noodles, Parmesan and butter. But the modern version is apparently an American innovation. It can be made a couple of different ways, but it's best IMO if you make a standard cream sauce and add cheddar and jack. With a pinch of mustard powder to accentuate the cheddar.

I generally don`t prepare food. I pay other people to do that."I have never killed a man, but I have read many obituaries with great pleasure." - Clarence Darrow

QFT. The Mac & Cheese you can get at a good BBQ restaurant makes Kraft look like child's play (or put it another way - the difference between good prepared Chili and Hormel Chili or good prepared Italian and Chef Boyardee).“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

While we're talking about food here, I just discovered that Roquefort and apples are best buddies.

There's a restaurant in Rochester called Dinosaur BBQ (owned by George Soros, whatever, it's awesome I'm still gonna eat there) which has awesome chili and they distribute sealed packages of it which are sold at Wegmans stores in the area. I buy that and heat it up for 2 minutes. For prepackaged chili it is goddamn amazing.Originally posted by Imran Siddiqui View Post

e: it has really good mac 'n' cheese too but imo the mac at Sticky Lips (another good restaurant you should go to if you are ever in ROC) is better.Last edited by regexcellent; June 29, 2013, 17:42.
