Beyond finding the interest in the issue of contrary post from ~7 years ago to be bizarre (I also copped to the contradiction in post 25), you misunderstand me if you think I care what the opinion people here hold of me might be. As of now it is merely curiosity over why someone would find me and my musings more interesting than the issue in the original post. I'm starting to wish I had asked someone else start a thread on this issue because other than giving me an ego boost because of how interesting I must be the thread has been largely devoid of meaningful discussion and another poster would likely have had a more productive reception.

It seems like a stupid way to do it IMO as the massive dragnet feels like it is more akin to a fishing expedition than actual investigative or intelligence work. I'm also done trusting the government with such power after the events of late exposing incompetence and maleficence in multiple levels. FFS, the F in FISA is supposed to stand for Foreign. So why are these actions being directed against massive numbers of US citizens living here in the homeland. This is especially true since the admin has declared the WoT to be over.

I'm leaning towards Berz's opinion on this.
This has been going on for quite a while, so there should have a few examples of how it helped. They should produce a few (ones that wouldn't compromise a current investigation). If they can't produce one, then I'd think that this probably shouldn't be done.
