Sava, you're the one making the ridiculous claim. Xbox360 and PS3 both were overpowered when they came out, and then settled in. I don't know about benchmarks, and don't really care - hence my one off statement. You're free to keep thinking what you want, but all I can say is for all of Asher's other issues, he's not wrong on this one (at first).<Reverend> IRC is just multiplayer notepad.

I'm a practical guy. Such concerns are, frankly, irrational and bizarre. I agree MS should provide an option to turn it off for tinfoil hat types, but there's a million workarounds here: unplug it when not in use, or just unplug the Kinect unit when not in use, etc.

Marketing?
It's not really fair to say that "requiring X is a dumb idea". I mean, the Wii required you to use one of those wii controllers, right? Was that a problem?
It might cause people to not buy the console if it pushes the price point too high, but other than that I don't see a problem with it. The always-on, that I understand, but not the buying it in the first place.<Reverend> IRC is just multiplayer notepad.

PC Benchmarks for GTA IV... 10 months after the PC release
The Radeon HD 5870 we reviewed last week was nice, but $379 in an economic downturn is the new $650. We want something bigger on value, and we're looking to ATI's new Radeon HD 5850 at $259 to stand up to Nvidia's $300+ GeForce GTX 285.
Most of the setups give frame rates above 60@resolutions higher than both 360 and PS3.
Framerates for both consoles are capped at 30 for this game.
So yeah.
Reality.
The 360 was released in November 2005, those are from a machine in September 2009.
How well does GTA IV run on a GeForce 7800 GTX? That was the hotrod card at the time of the 360's release.Last edited by Asher; May 22, 2013, 17:47."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

I really don't understand the purpose of your statements. You have an impression. It's wrong. You cannot demonstrate it to be true. Is changing your opinion on a particular matter so threatening that you cannot do so? It seems absurd.
Asher is also wrong. And he's throwing out red herrings and strawmen left and right trying to justify his ridiculous opinions. I'm the only one who has posted any actual facts here.
So I can dunk on you guys all day. It makes no difference to me.To us, it is the BEAST.

Your cellphone records can be subpoenaed. I suppose that with a warrant the government would be able to tap into your xbox one and watch you. Imagine if you were sitting around the xbox one and you were smoking marijuana, engaging in any illegal activity, your screen name was Osama69, Saddam187 or etc...What can make a nigga wanna fight a whole night club/Figure that he ought to maybe be a pimp simply 'cause he don't like love/What can make a nigga wanna achy, break all rules/In a book when it took a lot to get you hooked up to this volume/
What can make a nigga wanna loose all faith in/Anything that he can't feel through his chest wit sensation

Your claim is that:
But the fact is, the "one" and PS4 will be comparable in performance to a 2013 mid-range gaming PC... and for me personally, each is inferior to the system I have built now.
I'm pointing out this isn't true and illustrating it with the last-generation hardware.
A mid-range gaming PC from 2005 was what, a GeForce 6500?
That doesn't even meet the MINIMUM requirements for GTA IV. The minimum is the top-end $600 card of the day, the 7900 GTX."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

I'm excited about it and don't care that sava doesn't like the xbox
Also, of course asher is correct re: hardware.
What the last console generation really lacked though was RAM. The new consoles have a lot more, now.If there is no sound in space, how come you can hear the lasers?

I'm glad you guys are looking forward to it. I have big reservations, and will probably stick to Steam, and may instead spring for a smart TV."My nation is the world, and my religion is to do good." --Thomas Paine

I've never owned an XBox of any kind, but I hopped to http://kotaku.com/xbox-one-everything-we-know-509069410 out of idle curiosity. This does seem like a dog--as does the Wii U, from what I've heard, but since that's not the subject of this thread, whatever. It seems they're tacking on a lot of extra hassle and restrictions, with the main benefit to the user being the ability to voice-command the thing like a computer on Star Trek. I'm sure the specs are great, but that's the sort of thing one assumes. And why did they switch the d-pad with the stick like that? Huh.
Doesn't matter to me, since I won't buy any of these things. If I want to get into modern games, I'll just upgrade my PC. But it is odd.
