I had high hopes for the new Xbox. The show was horribly disappointing. Almost the whole show was about features that will probably only work in the US. :/

Which parts, exactly?
The video features work via HDMI in. Hopefully Euroland has HDMI.
The games-centric portion will be in a couple weeks at E3. The presentation was mostly consumer electronics focused."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

That said, some TVs (Samsung, Panasonic IIRC) do support commands over HDMI; for example, my panasonic audio system can turn on/off my Samsung PC. I'm not sure about switching inputs, but it might be able to do that also (I have a Harmony One, so don't care).<Reverend> IRC is just multiplayer notepad.

The idea is the HDMI out on your receiver goes to the HDMI in on the Xbox, and the HDMI out on the Xbox goes to the HDMI in on the TV.
There's also an IR blaster out on the back of the Xbox."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

I don't entirely understand why you couldn't just have a cable card in the xbox and let it BE the cable box... but I guess that's a pipe dream Not that I have cable anyway, and the XBox could handle my minimal tv watching via hulu/netflix if I bothered to pay for Gold LIVE.<Reverend> IRC is just multiplayer notepad.

Right, but if the XBox Whatever used them, that would change The whole concept of renting a box to get cable is silly. Less boxes on the shelf the better from a power and space perspective.<Reverend> IRC is just multiplayer notepad.

My whole-home PVR system is infinitely superior to a cablecard-powered Xbox..."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

Also, it is highly unlikely the Xbox will ever be able to record shows. That's a legal minefield. Everything they've shown so far is live TV. I don't ever watch live TV unless it's a hockey game."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

Do you happen to also know WTF they were smoking that made that "smile, you're always on camera" scheme sound good?
