  • Eating chicken in the US just got more dangerous.

Even though industry self regulation always ends up meaning no regulation and has been a failure every where it has ever been tried... The USDA wants to allow chicken slaughter houses to self regulate and will simply stop all visual inspections at slaughter houses and will even decrease laboratory testing. The industry plans to double line speeds (which always results in more fecal contamination as rushed workers inevitable end up puncturing the intestines of the chicken thus spreading fecal material on the meat) and lock their doors so that inspectors aren't around to see what they're doing. Corporate corruption is simply out of control and the lobbyists truly have captured the agencies which are supposed to be regulating them.

The only good news is that due to a public outcry the FDA is delaying it's decision to eliminate all inspections but they still plan to go ahead and just trust companies without ever verifying. Even Reagan knew you had to trust but verify.

So why is the USDA doing it? Is it a necessary cost-cutting measure because of budget cuts or something?

Gosh, this would have nothing to do with Proposition 2, would it?

My guess it is just another example of the system being corrupted by corporate money. Every politician lives or dies based upon how much campaign bribes they get and if you want to get the bribe money then you simply must do what ever they tell you to do. Chicken processors don't like having meat inspectors catching them when they ship unsafe meat so the inspectors need to go.

It's kind of just a formality at this point as Republicans in Congress have already put so many restrictions on the FDA they're not even allowed with in 10 feet of the line except in handful of extremely specific events. They've already made it so the FDA can't do its job so why not just stop pretending and get rid of the pretense that it is? That's how bad it has gotten in America and it's all due to corporate corruption.

What makes you think the FDA has anything to do with a state proposition. Seriously, go on meds because there is something wrong with you.
