squares or circles?

i don't want to bore y'all with technical details but i've been asked to make a reminder card for a game i play. traditionally, basic skill is shown with a square and advanced skill is shown with a diamond. this reminder card has both and can be used interchangeably, but to make the card itself semi-interesting i've added a center icon. the trouble is that i can't decide between the circle or the square. the square has the benefit of being iconic, while the circle has the benefit of not being a square or a diamond. i'm actually rather torn right now.

no trick, i'm just having a wossname... crisis when it comes to deciding between two equally compelling aesthetic choices.

also, ignore the fact that the secondary icons don't match the center icon in the circle.

I thought this too. However, I like the distance between the edge and the shape on both cards. The shape of the card doesn't lend itself well to a circle with an even balance of space. Maybe if there were other symbols in opposing corners of the card... or something else to fill that space.

Hmm. I was ignoring the text and logo for some reason. I would choose the circle if the text was horizontal.

The circle starts to look like a human head after a few seconds of staring. (It's a man with a walrus moustache.)
The square looks more like two men, connected at the shoulder. Like a brotherhood thing.
