30 seconds to 2 minutes. If I see a crazy guy with a gun, I grab the phone, dial 911, run and hide. That's a much more survivable scenario than "hyuk hyuk lemme grab ma gun and shoot it out"

There are always cop cars on patrol. Somewhere, a teenager needs to be told not to skateboard and told to get a hair cut. Daily commuters need speeding tickets (which requires two cars if the driver is black, mexican or under 20).

Every ten years or so some suburban mom goes crazy and murders her children. Besides that, it's usually pot busts, DUI's, and shoplifting. The local newspapers has a police blotter. It's pretty hilarious.

AFAIK the boys were born in Kyrgyzstan. They were descendants of Chechens displaced during WW2 who chose not to return to Chechnya after Stalin died. The family moved to Dagestan and lived there for a few years before immigrating to the US.

There seemed to be so many different ethnic/religious/political groups Stalin exiled/displaced... then again, the Caucasus alone are filled with ethnic & religious minorities- just think of Georgia's problems.

I think you're vastly overestimating the number of police available for patrol, especially outside of the blue (police) states.

I think it was a probe, to see how far they could get. That's why there weren't any claims of responsibility. The group (country?) is watching, seeing how we react, in preparation for further attacks.

It's not like we haven't been asking why this hasn't happened sooner.
