Polymeric sand or envirosand is the important part. You put it in the cracks and spray it with water.

Polymeric sand hardens and forms a seal of sorts.
Envirosand becomes gel-like when wet and sort of self-heals each time water touches it, bonding the stones together.

I hope so. Even without landscaping the value is up 10-15% since I built last year, depending who you ask. Not that I did it as in investment, but that certainly helps.
