I was wondering if it was because of a lack of trash pick up (thus people just dump it in empty lots) or if it is more a cultural thing where people don't care so they dump trash where ever. The state of the roads (or lack there of) seems especially bad and I'm wondering my local officials don't make paving them more of a priority. I mean why is Putin pissing away huge amounts of money on the military, when Russia really isn't facing a major threat, when they could be spending the money improving conditions for regular citizens? Don't local officials have a budget to do basic things like roads and sanitation?

Nepotism. Local official's nephew could be in charge of the roads and his brother in charge or sanitation, for example. The official ensures correct voting results and is not prosecuted for ****ing up the city.

They've excavated the elevation - there's a ~2 foot drop now near the end of the deck and the area near the fence is much more flat.

There's two zones of denser detached housing, then you get into duplexes, and then townhouses.

It's what you get when you buy homes in big cities.

3 feet? Do you know how big a foot is?

Minimum building code is 8 feet between houses. Most are more.

There's ~13 feet between my house and my neighbours'. (2.17m to the property line on mine, 1.9m on their properties).
