and it's translation of translation of translation. Semantic over the substantive, because you have nothing more.

I was an altar boy - we got wine, before the service setting up, after putting away, a swig here, a swig there when the priest wasn't looking - they didn't like to share, not quite as pissed as some of the priests but well on the way some days.

Trying to get high on the incense was another favorite. I was once asked to put the incense in the burner and did it like I was sugaring tea or coffee, big spoonfuls. The congregation disappeared in clouds of incense, coughing and gagging...I was never asked again

Erm, no, no, it's not. The concept itself comes from the Greek. Arguing that just because it's translated means that the Catholic church got it wrong is a terrible argument. You find Latreia in the Greek NT.

            • And of course, every word in every language maps precisely to one and only one word in every other language with no difference in shades of meaning. Nice attempt to mischaracterize the argument and shift the goal posts, though.

So your argument now is that the English word "worship" doesn't accurately convey "Latreia"?

                • Keep distorting it. You'll get the strawman you think you can handle eventually.

Grooo.... sudden flashback to Good Fridays in a freezing cold inner city red brick and stone church, with what appeared to be Geneva Convention transgressing quantities of frankincense enveloping my head, leaving me with a severe headache and nausea.

                      Thanks, Horsie.
