I'm a teacher. I had to participate in classes specifically designed to address this issue. I'm also subject to random inspections and I go with a no contact policy as it's just sensible given that I'm young and a guy.

I can understand that, but the pederasty thing seems to get brought up every. single. time. Catholicism is mentioned, whether it's relevant or not. Like that mini-"scandal" last year where the Vatican wrote a grumpy letter to a batch of heretic nuns in America. NYT columnist: "Gee, sure wish you'd been this gung-ho when your priests were raping little boys!" Yeah, don't we all, but what does that have to do with the issue at hand? Not a blessed thing.

Some people are under the mistaken belief that they can shame the RCC into apologizing if the harp on the scandal long enough. Other people are trolling.

By way of comparison, Germany went out of its way to apologize for the holocaust after the war (granted that not everybody in Germany was happy about apologizing, but in part this is because the malcontents were unhappy that they were about to be executed for war crimes). Now if Germany does something good bad or questionable and somebody responds with "blah blah blah NAZIS blah blah blah" then they're ignored/ridiculed. The RCC could do the same thing in response to criticism, but they haven't and probably won't.
