Well, given that the Catholic Church just bought the biggest gay sauna in Europe, which is conveniently located right next to the Vatican (I guess they know who their customers are), I'd say the Church isn't interested in reforming or changing much of anything. "They keep raping little boys? OK, let's buy a big gay bath house so they can work it out there and hopefully they'll stop raping little boys in their spare time. We'll just pretend like it doesn't happen, no need to reform anything or change Church doctrine."

Considering the church's top-down style of management... the people closest to the top pretty much have to be in line with the big guy's policies. I seriously doubt any of those crusty old bastards is against child rape. Anyone who speaks out probably is in a monastery somewhere in Alaska.

He's been alleged (though like much of the "disappearances" in recent Argentine history, proof is hard to come by) to have hung out to dry a couple of jesuit priests who opposed the military junta.

He's also definitely not spoken out about reform in any fashion, nor have I seen any indication he has condemned or done much about allegations of abuse in his areas of responsibility. He's also a hardcore member of the conservative faction who have been dragging their feet on this issue and trying to sweep it under the rug for decades.
