So I guess this isn't getting off the ground then?

      Do you have a suggestion?

        How about this?

The Signal and the Noise: Why So Many Predictions Fail — but Some Don't
        by Nate Silver

Or we could pick a paperback if that's a bit too pricey.

I'd prefer something available on Kindle.
          John Brown did nothing wrong.

            Seconded the Kindle thing.
"You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours."--General Sir Charles James Napier

I already read it--and really didn't like it, honestly. Also, I'd prefer to read fiction. Thirding kindle, by the way.

Clearly y'all should read a Galnemer book.

There's a thought, as long as Guynemer doesn't mind us criticizing it

I don't think he'd mind, so long as it was paid for.

Does this mean my scheme for free baby-poo assessments has been dashed?

Still, it seems logical that a Poly book club should start with a Poly author (of which I don't think there are any, and this being the next closest thing).

I actually enjoyed David Eddings. "Pawn and The Prophecy" series. Somewhat like Tolkien, but easier reading and with humor.
If you ever happened to play "Legend of The Red Dragon" in BBS days, some of the characters came from the books. Barak, for one.
I still have a hard back copy of his Elium series (the one with the Ruby Knight) which I bought back in the late 80's to early 90's and recently reread last year. It struck me as entertaining but not very original (very formulaic), filled with unoriginal character types, and most of the characters tended to be either totally good or totally bad with very little character development. In short, David Eddings writes rather crappy fantasy.
