I have no ideas for a book, actually. I'm thinking when we get a few more participants we'll shift this thread to be book suggestions, then we will start a new thread for the book we settle on.

In terms of books, my own interests at the moment are in classical history and pre-20th century political philosophy. But I'm happy to read some fiction as a break if that's what others prefer. No idea on what to read right now for fiction--haven't read any (good) fiction for years. Open to suggestions.

Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours."--General Sir Charles James Napier

I severely doubt that we can come up with a book to read we all agree on.

I think my next book series will be The Blade Itself by Joe Ambercrombie though I also want to read Erikson's Gardens of the moon.

I just finished reading "Bonhoeffer: Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy" by Eric Metaxes

I think my next book will be "The Great Gatsby" by F. Scott Fitzgerald - to read it prior to the movie.

Aren't Book Clubs to help you broaden your horizons?

You first have to determine what to read .

My interest in books is limited to non-fiction, Star Wars, Star Trek and Tom Clancy.

Being forced to read stuff in school pretty much ruined the great authors for me. There's nothing like the structure and authority of the Prussian model when it comes to sucking the joy out of... well... pretty much everything.
