      They absolutely should.

Given the fact that the LAPD and Riverside PD are so dead set on bringing him in "dead" they are blowing away little old asian ladies in trucks of different model, make, and color...they are kinda making his point for him.

US local LE has a lot of institutionalize corruption and Californian(and New York...) LE agencies are the worst of the bunch.

It seems almost inevitable that they'll end up gunning down some random heavy-set Black man at this point unless higher makes it clear positive identification or immediate threat is required.

I also don't like the whole judge, jury, and executioner thing the police do, in general. You're innocent until proven guilty. Last I checked, this is America. I can't fathom how we authorize police to kill a suspect who does not have a weapon in hand. Is there any doubt that they could find Dorner tied to a tree and they'd still discharge 30+ rounds into him?

          2 things:

          1) The LAPD officers are in a tough spot. They are being targeted for death by someone who has proven that he can carry out his threat. So you're damn right they are jumpy. That's why they unloaded into the truck. One cop made the mistake (not sure who) and all the others started pulling their triggers out of fear. Argue all you want about it, but that's what happened. (BTW, that is not an excuse, it's an explanation.)

          2) For Donner, this has nothing about exposing the corruption or any such noble cause. This is nothing but revenge. If it really were about some noble cause, he would flee and surrender peacefully to a PD far, far away. Then he would be alive and have his platform to preach from.

Gee... I always thought that disgraced American cops had to hand over their guns and badges. Are all those movies and detective novels wrong? If he turned in his gun(s), where did he get the weapons he's using now?

I doubt anyone would shed a tear.

Was anyone else a little surprised about how much of a supporter of gun control he is? Or how much of a fan of MSNBC's Chris Matthews and CNN's Piers Morgan he is?

They'd cut him loose afterwards and explain that the way he was brandishing the rope, they thought it was a firearm.

Nobody requires "weapon in hand" as that puts too much risk on the officer. If you make a sudden, rapid move in your car, for example a rapid reach under the car seat, or if you're standing and you reach your hand into your jacket or the waist of your pants behind your back, you're liable to get shot, and a review board will clear the shooting. Common sense in dealing with cops is to de-escalate the situation whenever possible.

Or he's just ****ing with people and laughing at anyone's attempts to read anything into his manifesto. Maybe he should become a Poly poster.

There's an old cop saying: "Better to be tried by twelve than carried by six."

Not much different than the recon/SOF saying: "When in doubt, wipe 'em out."

Life is a little different when you're dealing with someone or someones who actively want to kill you and have the means to do so.

I'd have a higher body count and nobody would have heard a word from me or identified me, or even suspected me.

Dorner seems to like getting up close and personal. That's more of a rage issue. Psychologically, .30-06 or similarly capable rounds from 300-600 meters is a lot more effective. Plus manifestos are so "look at me, look at meeeee!" Really poor form.
